| Chapter Five: Escape!
“Sapphire!?” I heard Maysa’s small voice calling me. “Are you still down here?” Suddenly I felt Bracus shouldn’t be down here to suffer. He should be free.
“Bracus,” I whispered. “I’m letting you escape!” Bracus was very surprised at this.
“Me,” he answered. “You’re letting me go!” I unlocked the prison cell door without answering Bracus.
“When me and Maysa are gone you can escape through the secret passage in the kitchen,” I told Bracus. “It’s an escape passage for when we are attacked.”
“Sapphire!” called Maysa. “Get up here!”
“Goodbye Bracus,” I said and ran through the dungeons dodging any rats or cave spiders.
“Sapphire!” Maysa called again. I ran up the stairs and all of a sudden I saw Maysa’s little body and and smelled fresh air.
“What were you doing down there?” asked Maysa. I open my mouth to answer.
“Never mind,” said Maysa. “Your father wants you for dinner. But first get into some clean clothes.” I did as she told.
All through dinner I was thinking about Bracus, hoping if he had escaped.
Later when everyone was asleep I stole Maysa’s key and went into the dungeons. Bracus was gone. | |
