| *Beep* *Beep* The heart monitor starts to beep faster. *Beep* *Beep* As I know that I need this operation I know that my parents can't aford another operation.
*Ring Ring* The phone went off. As I know that I was deep in a dream I realize that I really am going to go into surgery. The door opens as I see a girl that looks just like me. She sits down where I am laying. She softly says that I have nothing to worry about that I will be ok, but I know that it will never be the same. As I remember her birth all I can remember is a little bloody body. I know that she will die before I do. It is all to save me. I know that she was born because of me. Living with tuberculosis, I know that she will die not for me, but because of me. As she leaves reassuring me it will be all right the nurse comes in to put me to sleep. My twin comes back and lays down on a table next to me. We are put down.
As I wake up, I realize that my twin was gone. I sit there crying. My parents come in to tell me that I was going to be alright, but I knew I wasn't. Everyday, I have to live with the guilt of killing my sister. Everynight I cry because I once had to share my bed...The night before. I remember telling her stories. She would laugh, I would laugh. The guilt continues to eat at me to this day.
This is a true story, but not of me. | |
