| Chapter 1 The Inconvenient Truth It’s the type of day that a 12 year old is willing to just give up and give in. Everything was going wrong. With tear-stained cheeks and reddened eyes I lie awake crying. As I said before everything is not going well. My best friend is moving 2,000+ miles away to Puerto Rico off the coast of Florida. Puerto Rico is a nice place to live, but there is always the reason. About 6 months ago his dad filed a divorce. Divorce I seldom say. Divorce is a word that not only brings me close to tears when I hear or say it, it also ruins lives. Divorce ruins everyone’s life that has to deal with it. Sometimes not as dramatic as others it is still very painful for everyone. Many people get hurt in divorces: children, the parents, the people getting divorced, friends, family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and many other people that the people getting divorced or their children come in contact to. With a friend that is sad because of the divorce, he is not the only one that is sad because of it. I am very sad. I can literally say that when I wrote this on paper my tears smeared the pages. The kid’s friends are really sad too. There are many of his friends that are grieving because of the loss. I have known him for 4 ½ years. That isn’t that many years, but in those years we have become extremely good friends. The loss is not one of a little drama, but it has so much drama that a play wouldn’t be able to imitate it without boring the audience. Just because he is moving away really isn’t what is sad. The soul crushing and heart sinking thing about it is that I have to live with the guilt of being at my friend’s house before the big fight and the filing for divorce. As my eyes are still drooping there still is my personality to shine through in the end. I am rarely ever this sad. Some of the people I meet get miserable when I am sad because it is as depressing to a person with as low of a self esteem as me. That is the total opposite of what I usually am. I am usually a very cheerful, very loving guy. As now I am getting tired, so I must be going to bed to a place where all my dreams become reality, and where I can avoid the inconvenient truth of reality. PS This is a true story | |
